This Pebble Beach ranch home, untouched since it was built, was transformed into a warm and inviting retreat. The once-open patio beyond the kitchen sink was enclosed to create an intimate family room complete with a compact fireplace insert and skylights that wash the space in natural light. Warm rift-cut oak cabinetry with vertical grain elongates the visual height of the kitchen, giving the impression of ceilings taller than eight feet. In the adjoining family room, a subtly vaulted ceiling enhances the sense of openness while maintaining a cozy scale.

Glass pendants above the peninsula echo the variegated glazing of the custom backsplash tile. Both elements play with light and shadow, mixing saturated color with softer tones to bring quiet visual interest to this clean, understated design.
